Located across Wonocolo, Sukolilo, and Rungkut Districts in the city of Surabaya, each ICOP 2022 destination is a urban village-level community where students worked to strengthen local potential. The five locations differ in character, from garden and green house initiatives to a urban village known for its cakes, but they share a need for a stronger identity, a healthier environment, and support for local businesses and children’s learning.

Siwalankerto

RW 03 (Siwalankerto Utara), Siwalankerto Urban Village, Wonocolo District

RW 03 Siwalankerto lies in Siwalankerto Utara and covers RT 02 to RT 05, in the urban village where Petra Christian University is based. The neighborhood needs a stronger kampung identity and visibility, promotion for its small businesses, programs for young children and PKK members, and a greener, more attractive environment.

Jemurwonosari

RW 05, Jemurwonosari Urban Village, Wonocolo District

RW 05 Jemurwonosari is a neighborhood with a garden area that the community hopes to develop. The garden needs a development plan, a proper green house, and a paved area around it. The community also needs kampung branding, promotion for local small businesses, and programs for early childhood and PKK members.

Margorejo

RW 01 (RT 01 and RT 06), Margorejo Urban Village, Wonocolo District

RW 01 Margorejo, which also hosted ICOP 2021, returned as a partner community, with RT 01 and RT 06 taking part. Residents want more greening, vertical gardens that are safe from flooding, and a cleaner kampung with its own slogans. They also see potential in catfish farming and in programs for children, with other needs to be surveyed on site.

Nginden Jangkungan

RW 05 (RT 09), Nginden Jangkungan Urban Village, Sukolilo District

RW 05 Nginden Jangkungan, in RT 09 of Sukolilo District, is a neighborhood working toward a greener and cleaner environment. The community needs a waste bank to manage household waste and a green house with a paved area and plants. Support is also needed for children’s learning, small business branding, and an evaluation of whether the existing kampung branding needs an upgrade.

Kali Rungkut

RW 05 (RT 04), Rungkut Urban Village, Rungkut District

RW 05 Kali Rungkut is known as Kampung Kue (the cake village), a productive community with potential for cake-themed tourism. The kampung needs lighting and a promotion board that present its productive image, a pilot design for arranging stalls, and a clean and green kampung program. Children’s learning and an evaluation of existing kampung and small business branding are also on the list.
