ICOP 2022

About ICOP 2022

In 2022, ICOP continued as a Thematic Pandemic KKN in the City of Surabaya under the theme “Community Empowerment in the COVID-19 Pandemic.” The theme grew out of the condition of Surabaya and the world, which were still affected by the virus, when almost everyone was facing hard times in different parts of life.

COVID-19 cases had tended to decline since 2021, but the Omicron variant arrived in Indonesia in early 2022 and called for continued caution. The theme invited local communities to become change-makers: to grow stronger, adapt to the pandemic, and be a blessing to others.

Based in Surabaya, 100 Petra Christian University students worked with five kampung communities across three districts on COVID-19 data and health campaigns, internet access for remote learning, appropriate technology, education, and small business support, along with greening and community-specific projects.
