Activity

During ICOP 2022, students and local communities in Surabaya collaborated to strengthen kampung communities during the pandemic. The program kept the same focus as the year before, including COVID-19 data and health campaigns, internet access for remote learning, appropriate technology, learning from home, and online support for small businesses, and added greening, branding, and local storytelling shaped by each neighborhood. Together, students and residents learned how to adapt under limited conditions.

Urban Village Identity & Early Learning

Murals, paving, and greening gave RW 03 a fresh look, while urban village branding and UMKM branding shaped how the neighborhood presents itself. Documentary and branding videos, programs for early childhood (PAUD) and PKK members, and a website and Instagram account helped tell the urban village’s story.

Garden Development & Community Branding

A master plan for the neighborhood garden set the direction, followed by a green house and paving around it. Kampung and UMKM branding, documentary and branding videos, and programs for PAUD and PKK rounded out the work.

Flood-Safe Greening & Catfish Farming

Children and the environment took center stage in Sidosermo: limited land in RT 01 was greened, alleys became safe play areas, a catfish pond was added in RT 02, and the RW’s green house was reimagined as a tidy reading garden with a development master plan. For local businesses, the program offered branding, logos, packaging, promotion support, and a hard copy catalog and e-book for UMKM across the urban village, with special attention to Tiara Handycraft.

Kampung Kue Promotion & Clean-Green Living

Lighting and a promotion board were planned to showcase Kampung Kue as a productive neighborhood and a cake tourism destination, supported by a pilot design for arranging stalls. A clean and green kampung program, learning activities for children, a review of kampung and UMKM branding, and documentary and branding videos filled out the picture.
